BhusaToli is an iconic and historic locality, in the heart of Kanpur, very close to the areas of Mirpur and Faithful Ganj localites, of Kanpur Cantonments lying on one side of the Railway Line towards North and East towards Lucknow.

Souter Ganj, Hoola Ganj, Daulat Ganj, Ghanta Ghar and Kanpur Central Station, where a new co-located, Kanpur Metro Station is coming up, changing the culture and mobility ethos of Kanpur City forever, from the colonial times era.

It has been a mixed use locality with a rich history and a unique culture.

Bhusa Tuli as the name suggests, has been a trading location, and wholesale market, for cattle feed and fodder in Kanpur. Bhusa of course refers to the dry feed, fed to cattle, while Toli refers to a place of toll or tax collection.

At the same time BhusaToli has been, the wholesale market for the metals trade, in Kanpur.

The metals trade in Kanpur has included iron, steel, aluminium, copper, brass, bronze.

The utensils of each generation have originated in the locality of Kanpur, defining the food container and food habits of generations upon generations.

Bhusa Toli website is an attempt to look at metals and metal utensils, manufacture and trade of course.

It is however, also an attempt to define epochal periods, in the history of Kanpur or Cawnpore, through its multi cultural markets.

BhusaToli website attempts to look at a new emerging India, through the lens of an archaic locality of cattle feed & fodder and the metals trade in Uttar Pradesh.

We also will try to look at Metals Policy, Policy Making, Metal Markets and Metal Utensils or बर्तन Bartan as known colloquially.

The mission of BhusaToli website, is to create stories of past, and stories of past generations, who have lived full and infinitely interesting lives, in the narrow alleys or galis of Kanpur.
